Alfalfa (Medicago sativa) is a leguminous plant providing ~15–20% protein, fibre, and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and iron. Its chlorophyll and flavonoids function as antioxidants, protecting tissues and supporting haemolymph oxygenation. In shrimp aquaculture, alfalfa supplementation enhances growth, improves moulting cycles, and fosters biofilm development, encouraging natural grazing and improving gut health.

Alfalfa

One of the most nutritious forage plants, alfalfa is loaded with plant proteins, vitamins A, C, E, K, and minerals. It supports moulting, growth, and digestive health in shrimp, while boosting vitality through chlorophyll and phytonutrients.
