YOKUCHI SOSEI CAPS are a professional substrate fertiliser in capsule form, combining two essential functions in a single product. The primary function is to deliver a complex of minerals and organic biostimulators directly at the root zone — where rooted plants absorb the majority of their nutrients, and where liquid column fertilisers cannot reach effectively. The secondary function is to actively maintain and restore the ion exchange properties of the substrate, preserving its fertility over extended periods and supporting stable, long-term plant arrangements.

Dosing Instructions

Apply capsules using tweezers or an applicator, placing them every 10–15cm near plant roots at a minimum depth of 4cm. Repeat application every 3–4 weeks.

Ideal For

Medium to large planted aquariums with established rooted plants — particularly those with demanding species such as Cryptocorynes, Echinodorus, and stem plants with strong root systems. Also effective for refreshing ageing substrates in mature aquascapes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are SOSEI CAPS safe for shrimp?
Yes. SOSEI CAPS are placed deep in the substrate (minimum 4cm) and release nutrients slowly at the root zone. When used as directed, they do not significantly affect water column chemistry and are safe for tanks housing both Neocaridina and Caridina shrimp.

How deep should I place the capsules?
A minimum depth of 4cm is recommended to ensure nutrients are released at the root zone and not directly into the water column. Use planting tweezers for precise placement without disturbing surrounding plants or substrate.

How often do I need to reapply?
Every 3–4 weeks. Regular reapplication maintains a consistent supply of root-zone nutrients and helps preserve the ion exchange capacity of the substrate over time.

Can I use SOSEI CAPS in a new aquarium setup?
Yes. They can be placed in the base layer during initial setup before covering with substrate, or inserted near plant roots once the aquarium is established. Both methods are effective.
